JIM'S BACKGROUND

Experience and Achievements

Jim has a diverse professional history that includes 22 years of distinguished active-duty military service in both the US Army and Air Force.  He retired from the military as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2019.

He began military service by enlisting in the US Army, where he completed Armor Basic Training as the Top Graduate in his class, served overseas in Germany, and deployed in a combat role to Iraq during Operation Desert Storm.  After completing his enlistment, Jim left the military to attend college and then returned to active duty as a commissioned officer in the US Air Force.  He earned Distinguished Graduate honors from Officer Training School, held numerous leadership positions, and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Jim consistently performed in the top 5% of his officer peers based on performance stratifications and promotion endorsements.  He was competitively selected to attend Air Command and Staff College in residence -- an opportunity awarded to only 2% of medical officers annually -- and he completed a coveted assignment at the Pentagon, where he served on the Air Force Surgeon General's staff as Chief of Medical Doctrine.

Jim practiced as a board-certified specialist in orthopedic physical therapy for over 20 years in the military and private sector.  In his final military assignment, he was hand selected to stand up and lead the first-ever Human Performance Program for the US Air Force Combat Control School, where he was responsible for designing a state-of-the art human performance center, developing advanced tactical strength and conditioning programs, and overseeing all medical and rehabilitative care for the students and faculty assigned to this elite special warfare training school.

After retiring from military service, Jim returned to clinical practice for two years before embarking on a new challenge in 2021, pivoting from clinical healthcare to financial services.  His extensive leadership experience and proven success in managing strategic military programs and large, multi-disciplinary medical clinics enabled him to transition to a position in a top 5 financial services company, where Jim currently serves as a Senior Assistant Vice President in Technology Finance.

In his current role, Jim is a Senior Business Accountability Specialist responsible for the analysis, design and execution of numerous business control procedures that manage critical risks and safeguard the company's multi-billion-dollar annual capital investments and operating expenses.
